Milan fashion show brings us “tough chic”
March 4th, 2009Today is the last day of the Milan fashion show, and what a show it has been! So what have we learnt?
We’re going back in time to the 1970/1980’s with “batwing” sleeves, blousons and micro-minis.
Bling is back and it’s bigger than ever, heavy metals such as pewter, bronze and gold are to make neckpieces and pendants, the bigger the better!
Tasteful transparency has emerged as a top trend, which could easily be achieved with mesh tops.
Grey clouds hang over the show this year as the economic crisis approaches the fashion houses of Italy. “Just Cavalli” Roberto Cavalli’s younger, cheaper fashion line had to pull out of the show after the lines producer “Ittierre” went bust, meaning half of the clothes didn’t turn up! An undeterred Cavalli still took his “tough chic” main line to the show, pictured below.
